This is who I am ...

My name is Kerry Knoll, I am originally from the Midwest and moved out West a few years ago. As you can probably tell I am a Web Designer by day, Rounder by night...I put this site together from my passion for Poker, Texas Hold'Em to be precise. I wanted to combine all the various elements I was searching for on the Internet about the game of Poker into a one-stop shop, so to speak.

Since the age of 18, I have been fascinated with the idea that there's a certain edge a player can have over the House in the game of Blackjack. I did my fair share of studying and reading any and all books I could get my hands on. For a couple summers during my college days my summer job was playing Blackjack at local Indian Reservation casinos.

But even though you can gain a certain percentage over the House in the long-run by playing perfect Basic Strategy along with counting cards and a few other tricks of the trade, you cannot truly count on winning as consistantly as you can by mastering the game of Poker. Here you're not competing against the House, but rather the skill level of the other players. It's the only true casino game where every decision you make has a direct result in your overall monetary expectation.

So as I had done with Blackjack in the past, I decided it was high time to learn as much about the game of Poker as humanly possible. In the game of Poker it's not only important to play every hand correctly, but to out think/play your opponent. That's where the Psychology of Poker comes into play. No matter how much one can learn from the numerous excellent books on the subject, nothing compares to the actual experience of real live action in a card room. That's where you can learn to read your opponents and learn from the mistakes you make (and you will make them). The key, whether you win or lose the hand or session, is to play each hand correctly based on all the elements (i.e. position, strength of hand, pot odds, bluffing odds, number of outs, reading your opponent, etc.) of the game.

Hopefully with the skills I have refined you will recognize my name and this site at the final table of the World Series of Poker.

You will probably find me sitting in a local cardroom near you...I look forward to making your acquaintance. Don't be shy, say hi and let me know what you think of my site.

Good Luck - Kerry

It's Been Awhile  032409

A lot has happened since my last blog entry, no doubt! I'm going to see if I can revive this blog with some new, more regular posts.

To start I recently had some tournament success back in November final tabling back-to-back tournaments. The first one was the Friday Night Orleans tournament good for a 3-way chop and the next day I went on to get 6th place in the Venetian Deep Stack Event #15. I've also cashed a few other things since then which you can check out in my Tournament Trophies section of my site.

I've decided it's high time I get back to "grinding it out" over the next few weekends trying to inflate my bankroll as much as possible for the upcoming Venetian Deep Stack Series which runs in February. I know I will be playing at least two $540 Saturday tournaments and quite possibly one or two $330 or $540 Friday tournaments. I was really looking forward to the $330 HORSE on Sunday, February 15th, but I will be in New Orleans during that time for a little R&R.

Let's get back to my game plan. So from this past weekend until my first Saturday event I plan on playing roughly 16 hours (2 - 8 hour sessions) between Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Which means no more Sunday Stars per the usual for me. I will also be playing the Friday Night Orleans tournament in hopes of hitting one to help boost my bankroll before the Venetian Deep Stack series.

Friday night I played the Orleans tournament busted out about 90th or so out of 147 entrants with AK and a short stack...Blinds were $200/400/25, Two limps, a shove for less than my $4100, I had the SB with AK re-shoved and the BB 3 shoved over the top which had me covered...77 vs TT, missed and went on to play $2-5 NL.

Played 5 hours on Friday night...Made only two mistakes, not even sure you want to call them mistakes, but I felt I could have made two better decisions. The first was with 7cTc limped in a straddled pot in cutoff, SB raised to $30, 5 callers...Flop 9c 7 8, SB bet $50, I was the 4th caller, Turn 2d, SB bet $100, one caller, I called...River 4c, SB checked, caller checked, and this is where I should have insta-shoved my stack which was about $325...Instead I just checked since I wasn't familiar with the SB's play and he showed AJ, 2nd caller had 68 for $650 pot...I believe had I been there longer I would have made that shove without any hesitation.

The 2nd hand was 5s6s...Lady had raised to $40, two callers, I elected to fold sensing that the players behind me were all going to fold...But I was absolutely certain that she had AA or KK...Flop Ks 4s 2c...She bet $100 called, Turn 3c!!! Gin!!! She fired again guy called, River blank...She had AA won the pot...I figured I really needed one more caller to justify the call, but I also know I was waiting all night for that situation to occur! :(

I ended up losing in that session, but I really felt that I played great throughout...I even had a cooler when I had AQ on button called $20 raise 5 ways, Flop Qc As 4c, lady shoved $200 I had $288 re-shoved BB called with AcKc, Turn 7s, River Kd! That pot was $900...I finally picked up two Kings and raised to $40 had 5 callers, Flop Ah 6h 8s, I had the Kh...Lady led out for $100 and was called so it was an obvious muck...Turn Kd! They got it all in on the turn and she had AK! UGH! If the flop would have been 3 hearts I would have called with Kh in my hand or if the flop would have contained K or AK, I would have doubled through her. :(

Saturday was no better...I went to play at Bellagio and I just could not connect with any flops or hit any of my draws and if I did it ended up being 2nd best most of the night. However I never lost with the monsters, AAx3, KK, QQ, JJ all won for me, but not nearly enough as I would have liked them to.

After playing 13 hours between Friday night and Saturday I was too exhausted to play at all on Sunday, so I just took it easy spent some time with my family and watched the NFL Conference Championships...Go Cardinals! It's truly refreshing to see a team that's been the doormat of the NFL finally get it's shot to win the big one! 61 years of disappointment, I think their time is due! :)

With that I promise to post again within 2 years! ;)...

Hello my name is Kerry Knoll, and I'm a professional poker player. I've taken down dozens ...

of tournaments and have been at many final tables. You can take a look at some of my finishes from this past year.

This is for a stake up to 50% of my my earn for the single event. You''re percentage of earn will be based on the number of dollars you stake me up to 50% of the earn.

Examples:

100% stake = $10,000 = 50% of the earn
1% stake = $100 = 0.5% of the earn

I''m interested in finding a backer for any and all upcoming events. First place in many of the preliminary events should be upwards to a quarter million dollars. I would also be interested in sponsorship for any main events, buy-in is normally around $10,000. First place in the main event is usually around three-quarters of a million dollars depending on the number of entrants of course. For more details on upcoming events please visit CardPlayer.com''s website here.

Finally, I will also commit myself to helping the winning bidder with their own poker game.

Bidders should understand that I make no guarantees of my performance and that I will play my best game. Poker tournaments have highs and lows, and the best poker players do not win every single time they play.

Here''s a few FAQs:

(1) If you''re such a good poker player, why are you too broke to buy-in?

- It''s just the price of these buy-ins are too much exposure for myself. If I''m not staked for this event I will just have to wait until the next event and hope someone has decided to take a chance on me. But one of the secrets to surviving as a professional poker player is to not expose yourself to too much risk, and right now with the start of my new poker career I would rather not expose myself to the $10,000 risk. It''s all about money management.

(2) Why don''t you just go online and win a few grand? If you can''t do that, why would I want to back you?

- I do play online nearly everyday, but it''s like anything you can do a lot of good and still not win enough money, not to mention I''d still rather not expose myself to the full amount.

(3) Have you drafted a contract?

- Yes, there is a service agreement that protects the investor(s) and myself. Feel free to download them below.

Contract
Payment Terms
Milestones

Thanks,

Kerry Knoll
